Using a waitlist to fill dog grooming cancellations
Updated 7 October 2026
A cancellation the day before is lost money unless someone else takes the slot. A waitlist of clients who want an earlier groom turns those gaps back into bookings.
Who to put on it
- Clients who wanted a time you didn’t have.
- Regulars who are due soon and would come earlier.
- Clients who said they’re flexible on day and time.
Offer the slot quickly
When a booking cancels, message the people who could fit it straight away. The first to accept gets it, and the rest are told it’s gone. Speed matters more than anything else.
Keep it fresh
Take people off once they’ve been booked in, and check older entries every few weeks. A short, current list works better than a long one.
