Online booking for dog groomers: should you offer it?

Updated 7 October 2026

Many groomers still take every booking by phone or message. Online booking can save hours a week, but only if it follows your rules. Here’s how to get the benefits without losing control of your diary.

What you gain

  • Fewer calls and messages while you’re grooming.
  • Bookings in the evening, when owners are thinking about it.
  • A full record of what was booked, with no mistakes from messages.
  • Deposits or cards taken at the same time.

Common worries, and how to handle them

  • New clients you haven’t met: let them request a booking that you approve, or ask for a consultation first.
  • Dogs that need longer: set service lengths by size and coat, so the right time is blocked out.
  • Awkward gaps: only offer times that fit around your existing bookings.
  • Last-minute bookings: set how much notice you need and how far ahead people can book.

Where to put your booking link

Add it to your Google Business Profile, Facebook and Instagram pages, your website, email signature and reminder messages. Every place a client sees your name should let them book.

Questions

Will online booking let anyone book any time?

Not if it’s set up well. Good booking pages only show real free times and follow your rules for notice, new clients and service lengths.

Do older clients use online booking?

Many do, and those who don’t can keep phoning. Online booking adds an option without taking the old ones away.
